A MUSE|STUDIO WEEKLY CHALLENGE FOR JANUARY 22,2012

Last weeks challenge was to stamp on anything but paper, so I chose some children's wood dominos that I got at the Dollar Store! The back surface was smooth, and provided a fabulous stamping surface!

I sooo love this new cute little set that will be coming out in the new catalog, February 1st.....called Greetings Earthling. I have had a lot of fun with the "Beam Me Up" stamp!

I stamped the spaceship, stars and "Beam Me Up" saying with StazOn Jet Black. On the stars I used blue star twinkle stickers n the center of each star. For the starship I colored it in with Copic markers. I made a hole in the domino with my Cropodile, went through it easy peasy!! If you don't have you, you totally need one for putting holes in all kinds of things! I then threaded some bermuda stitch ribbon through the hole for a cute outer space tag. This tag would be adorable on a scrapbook page......or as a keychain!

If you like this adorable set, you can order it starting February 1st. That is the day the new catalog goes on line. You are so going to love all the new exciting stamp sets, dies and yummy new colors and papers in this new catalog...stay tuned here for more sneak peeks......

Meanwhile, don't forget the retiring lists. If there is something you have been contemplating, check the retiring lists to make sure that your favorite is not retiring, because once it's gone, it's gone!

BEAM ME UP.......but not before you check out this new stamp set.......

There is intelligent life down here though, and it loves to stamp!!!!

Isn't this set just way too cute? I love the possibilities for this cute new set, Greetings Earthlings!! I made this cute little card with the stars, spaceship and Beam Me Up stamps, using lots and lots of glitter on the stars. Don't you love the new cardstock colors? This card uses Pistachio and Grape. The new catalog comes out February 1st, so start making your wish list out so you will be ready to order!!

I stamped the space ship on sugar card stock with Versafine Onyx Black and then colored it in with Tombow markers 173 (lime) and 451 (bermuda) I cut it out with a Marvy punch (blue)  scalloped oval. Using the Quickie Glue Pen, I outlined the oval and dipped it in diamond glitter. I cut a large oval shape from the grape card stock and mounted the space ship on the grape with 3D foam tape. I positioned it on my card, adhering with Tombow adhesive. Next I stamped the stars across the top of the card using Encore Metallic Silver ink, then used the Quickie Glue Pen to glitter up the stars. For the finishing touch I stamped the Beam Me Up saying in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  Quick and easy, and super cute!!

HAPPY 2012!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Welcome to a new year of stamping adventures, with lots of exciting and fabulous A Muse|Studio goodness to come!

I will be continuing with the Consultant Blog Challenges, and this weeks challenge is to use Embossing Powder. I love the white embossing powder and have really put it to work with Christmas cards....but now that Christmas is over it's time to write the Thank You notes....so I came up with a a very simple thank you using 2 different stamp sets....I love the clean simplicity of the design, and couldn't resist making more than one in a different color......I loved the tree from the Loving Memories stamp set, and paired it up with the Thank You from the Hand Scripted set. I punched a circle with the darker color and then stamped and embossed the tree with white embossing powder. I then stamped the Thank You on the lighter card base, and again, embossed with the white embossing powder. I tied the satin ribbon around the end with a knot, and attached the circle using a 3D foam square. Clean and simple!

Don't forget to hop on over to the Consultant Challenge Blog and check out the challenges!

BLOG CHALLENGE WINTER HOLIDAY CARDS!

It's almost December, do you have your holiday cards made and ready to go? This weeks challenge will help you get ready before the mad holiday rush.....make a winter holiday card...Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, First Day of Winter, Festivus......post your entry here using Mr Linky. Your prize this week will be an assortment of a muse|studio papers.

I designed our Christmas cards for this challenge. I am so in love with the Snowglobe die, that I knew I wanted to use it for my cards. My husband wanted something traditionally Christmas, and liked the Holy Night stamp set, so I designed the card around the nativity stamp.

Supplies to make this card:
Holy Night Stamp set
Ink: Winter Sky, Buttercup
Cardstock: Winter Sky, Navy, Latte Woodgrain
Vellum paper
Embossing powder: White, Diamond
Glitter: Diamond
Die: Snow Glove
Impression Plate: Tiny Dots/Medium Dots
3D foam
Tombow adhesive dots tape runner
sanding block
Big Shot die cutter
Navy twine
Washi Tape
Acrylic Blocks
Spring-Cut Fine-Tip Scissors
Milwaukee Heat Tool

Using Navy card stock, cut the card base, 10" X 3 3/4", fold in half for an A4 card base.

For show globe: I cut the top of the snow globe in Winter Sky, and ran it through the Big Shot with the impression plate using the tiny dots side. Next I lightly ran the sanding block over the top of the tiny dots to reveal the white core below.  Then I cut the top of the snow globe out of vellum and set that aside. I cut the base of the snow globe out of the latte woodgrain, wrapped Navy twine around and secured it in the back with a small bit of washi tape and set it aside.
Using the Nativity Stamp from the Holy Night, I stamped it on Navy card stock in Winter Sky ink and embossed it with white embossing powder and cut it out leaving a small edge of navy around the image. Using adhesive adhere the nativity to the winter sky snow globe. Adhere the vellum snow globe over the winter sky with the nativity sandwiched in between. Using quickie Glue Pen apply glue to the stable and area below the nativity, following the sample above.

Using Buttercup ink, stamp the star in the upper left corner of the navy card base, then emboss with the diamond embossing powder.

Using winter sky ink, stamp the Merry Christmas stamp at the bottom of the card, and emboss with white embossing powder.

Using the 3d foam tape attach the snow globe and snow globe base to the card, and it the card is complete.

Now it's your turn, create a winter holiday card and enter to win my prize of an assortment of a muse|studio card stock. Head on over to our Challenge blog and be inspired!

BLOG CHALLENGE DRY EMBOSSING

This weeks challenge on the a muse|studio challenge blog was posted by Carla, and her challenge is the technique of dry embossing.

a muse|studio has a lot of really fun embossing plates, and I decided to really stretch myself this time and see how complex I could get with the embossing plates.

I started out using the snow globe die, and cut the snow globe glass out of Winter Sky card stock and the base from French Roast Woodgrain card stock with my Big Shot.

I set the Woodgrain base aside for later, and worked on the top of the snow globe. I used the tiny dot side of the custom impression plate tiny dots/medium dots and ran the snow globe top through the Big Shot using the thicker of the embossing pads. I then took my sanding block and lightly sanded over the top of the snow globe dots, to reveal the white core...I love that all our card stock has a white core and when you emboss and sand it it makes your project look wonderful! But I didn't stop there, even though it looked very cool......for my next step, I took the snowflake/candy cane impression plate and positioned the snowflakes at the top of my snow globe and ran that through my Big Shot using the thinner of the embossing pads.....now I lost a little of the embossing on the tiny dots, but they still stood out a bit

Using my finger or you could use a sponge dauber, I rubbed some Winter Sky ink over the embossed snowflakes.....then took my Quickie Glue Pen and applied glue to random dots and random parts of the snowflakes and applied Diamond Glitter for the snowy effect.

It was looking pretty good at this point! I thought with the snowy effect, I needed to put a snowman in my scene and the snowman from the Holiday Tags set was the perfect size! I stamped him with Momento Ink, Tuxedo Black on the snow globe and on a small piece of Sugar card stock. On the snowman stamped on the Sugar card stock, I colored in his scarf, carrot nose and hat using Tombow markers and cut him out, minus the twig arms. I then attached him over the stamped snow man on the snow globe with a sure of 3D foam. A little more Diamond glitter using the Quickie Glue Pen on the hat and scarf, and he was styling!!!

Using a Eucalyptus card base I attached the snow globe and the base with 3D foam and stamped the saying "Winter Joy" also from the Holiday Tags set in the lower right corner of the card with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. And my creation was complete!

Hope you enjoyed my little dry embossing card......if you would like to order any of these a muse|studio products, or would like to hostess a party, please contact me and I would be happy to help you. All of these products can be found in my online store here or you can email me here.

A MUSE|STUDIO WEEKLY CHALLENGE FOR OCTOBER 17, 2011

This weeks challenge is to use buttons on your card. Join in by going over to our challenge blog to learn how you can win some fun a muse|studio goodies!

A Muse|Studio has a rainbow of buttons to pick from...though for this challenge I used French Roast.....have I mentioned before how much I love French Roast????

I decided to try for something that was clean and simple, and think I struck just the right chord with this one!

French Roast card base, with vanilla layer and latte tag. I stamped the thank you in French Roast ink, I cut a tag with the scallop tag die out of latte card stock and then stamped the leaf. It was inked with a sponge dauber using papaya and orange ink. The veins and stem were then stamped in french roast......I threaded French Roast twine through the hole in the tag, and through the holes of the french roast button. I attached the button to the tag with a glue dot.

To assemble the card I attached the vanilla to the card base with adhesive, then popped the tag up with 3D foam squares. And there you have it! Quick and simple!
