BLOG CHALLENGE DRY EMBOSSING

This weeks challenge on the a muse|studio challenge blog was posted by Carla, and her challenge is the technique of dry embossing.

a muse|studio has a lot of really fun embossing plates, and I decided to really stretch myself this time and see how complex I could get with the embossing plates.

I started out using the snow globe die, and cut the snow globe glass out of Winter Sky card stock and the base from French Roast Woodgrain card stock with my Big Shot.

I set the Woodgrain base aside for later, and worked on the top of the snow globe. I used the tiny dot side of the custom impression plate tiny dots/medium dots and ran the snow globe top through the Big Shot using the thicker of the embossing pads. I then took my sanding block and lightly sanded over the top of the snow globe dots, to reveal the white core...I love that all our card stock has a white core and when you emboss and sand it it makes your project look wonderful! But I didn't stop there, even though it looked very cool......for my next step, I took the snowflake/candy cane impression plate and positioned the snowflakes at the top of my snow globe and ran that through my Big Shot using the thinner of the embossing pads.....now I lost a little of the embossing on the tiny dots, but they still stood out a bit

Using my finger or you could use a sponge dauber, I rubbed some Winter Sky ink over the embossed snowflakes.....then took my Quickie Glue Pen and applied glue to random dots and random parts of the snowflakes and applied Diamond Glitter for the snowy effect.

It was looking pretty good at this point! I thought with the snowy effect, I needed to put a snowman in my scene and the snowman from the Holiday Tags set was the perfect size! I stamped him with Momento Ink, Tuxedo Black on the snow globe and on a small piece of Sugar card stock. On the snowman stamped on the Sugar card stock, I colored in his scarf, carrot nose and hat using Tombow markers and cut him out, minus the twig arms. I then attached him over the stamped snow man on the snow globe with a sure of 3D foam. A little more Diamond glitter using the Quickie Glue Pen on the hat and scarf, and he was styling!!!

Using a Eucalyptus card base I attached the snow globe and the base with 3D foam and stamped the saying "Winter Joy" also from the Holiday Tags set in the lower right corner of the card with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. And my creation was complete!

A MUSE|STUDIO WEEKLY CHALLENGE FOR OCTOBER 17, 2011

A Muse|Studio has a rainbow of buttons to pick from...though for this challenge I used French Roast.....have I mentioned before how much I love French Roast????

I decided to try for something that was clean and simple, and think I struck just the right chord with this one!

French Roast card base, with vanilla layer and latte tag. I stamped the thank you in French Roast ink, I cut a tag with the scallop tag die out of latte card stock and then stamped the leaf. It was inked with a sponge dauber using papaya and orange ink. The veins and stem were then stamped in french roast......I threaded French Roast twine through the hole in the tag, and through the holes of the french roast button. I attached the button to the tag with a glue dot.

To assemble the card I attached the vanilla to the card base with adhesive, then popped the tag up with 3D foam squares. And there you have it! Quick and simple!

FALL IS HERE!!!

So hap-hap-happy for Fall to finally be here! The leaves are starting to turn color, the air is getting a bit cooler, and I get to play with all my leaf and fall stamps. I thought I would do something a little different for this weeks challenge over on the a muse|studio consultant challenge blog.....I made a candy bar wrapper.  Buttercup cardstock, french roast pearl stickers and variegated leaves all signal that fall is here!

I measured my candy bar to determine the size of my paper, and used my scoring board to score the fold lines. I drew up this little template to show you how to measure and score your card stock to fit the candy bar of your choice. I cut and scored my paper, then I stamped it using the maple leaf stamp from the Autumn Leaves stamp set. To get the graduated color look, I used my sponge daubers with 3 colors of ink, starting with the lightest color first in the center of the leaf, working outwards to the darkest color. The inks I used on the leaf were Papaya, Orange and Cherry. Next, using French Roast ink I stamped the saying, "Wishing you a Happy Fall" from the Fresh Foliage stamp set, adding 3 french roast pearl stickers underneath.

Wrap the label around the candy bar and secure with Tombow adhesive dots roller....and you are done!

Autumn is my favorite time of year....the crisp cool air, the splendor of the leaves turning color......I took my inspiration from the turning colors of the leaves. I love the cute little stamp set called Fresh Foliage and have had so much fun playing with it! I decided to employ the Keep It Simple method with this card....I used the maple leaf stamp and outline from the set, and using my sponge daubers I inked the stamp using Buttercup, Orange and Cherry ink. I stamped it on Sugar card stock. I then took the outline stamp that matches the maple leaf and over stamped the leaf with French Roast ink.  To create the card I used buttercup card stock, and cut it about a 1/4 inch smaller than my French Roast 4 bar card base.  Using a scallop circle Nestabilities die, I cut an opening in the buttercup card stock for my leaf to peek through. I adhered the sugar card stock with the maple leaf behind the opening in the buttercup card stock and then adhered it to the french roast card base. I tied a bow around the card using orange satin ribbon......I used a quickie glue pen and outlined the inside edge of the scalloped circle and the "veins" of the leaves then sprinkled with diamond glitter. I then affixed 3 french roast pearl stickers on the buttercup card stock below the scalloped circle......quick and simple.....

A SNEAKY PEEK FROM THE HOLIDAY A MUSE|STUDIO CATALOG....
